It is important to remember that medications do have expiry dates. This weekend is a good time to go through your medications and get rid of any that has reached there expiration date. This includes prescription and over the counter medication, creams, ointments, drops and sprays. Also, look at your home and/or car first aid kits.

Always take medications as prescribed or as instructed.

Lets talk compression. There are 2 types of compression socks non-medical/performance or medical grade compression. Compression socks reduce build-up of lactic acid and help muscle recovery. Provide relief from tired aching legs, help prevent spider veins and swelling/edema. They are ideal for prolonged standing, sitting and long distance travel. Starting to wear compression at a young age will have great benefits. We are in the age of prevention. I wear my compression while exercising, long days on my feet at work, hiking, and travel.

These socks are special because of the achilles and arch support these socks provide. They are also moisture wicking, temperature regulating and provide relief for tired, aching legs. These are just a few of the benefits of this compression sock. These socks can and should be worn by most people.

Caring for your feet at home in between your foot care treatments is just as important as seeing your Foot Care Nurse regularly.

Don’t forget to do your homework

Using PodoEXPERT foam is recommended for most clients.

Monitor your feet daily, especially if you are diabetic or have decreased circulation and sensation.

Lightly file down calluses with an appropriate paddle. Do not use sand paper.

Anti-fungal treatments that are done at home need to be applied daily. If this is not possible we can treat your infection in clinic.

Perform lower limb exercises daily to increase circulation and strength and decrease pain and swelling.

Keep your feet dry and clean.

Wear your compression socks. Do not sleep with them on.
